LMIA case — process report

캐나다LMIA 노프라블럼 진행후기

2021-09-09

The Korean write-up explained that a Canadian work permit follows the employer's LMIA approval, with the permit taken either on arrival at the airport or from inside Canada, and reported that the firm had recently handled job matching, LMIA approval and work permit issuance for roles ranging from office positions to early childhood education.

It noted that employers often find the LMIA process difficult on a first attempt, since the employer must complete an interview in English and produce documents showing the business can properly employ a foreign worker. The firm said it prepares the required materials for the employer and runs interview practice beforehand where needed.

On early childhood education, the post said daycares contact the firm almost daily looking for staff and offering LMIA support, that the occupation is one where LMIA approval tends to go smoothly, and that a certificate conversion is required. The conversion looks for a degree in early childhood or education, English ability and, where possible, prior early childhood experience, and the post recommended building volunteer or childcare experience first, since daycares are reluctant to sponsor someone who has never cared for children.

For one client, who already had experience as an English kindergarten teacher in Korea, the firm handled the daycare placement, the ECE certificate conversion and the LMIA approval. The client obtained Saskatchewan Level 3 and, after completing 500 hours at a Canadian daycare, would be able to apply for the BC ECE IT/SNE certificate; only departure preparations remained.
