Spousal Sponsorship

Sponsorship is a documentation case. Most returns come down to the wrong checklist or weak relationship evidence.

Check first — where packages get returned

  • Married (spouse) and common-law cases use different document checklists. Choose the wrong one and the whole package comes back.
  • Common-law requires proof of 12+ months of continuous cohabitation. Weak evidence fails the genuine-relationship assessment.
  • The representative form must be signed by both the sponsor and the applicant — one missing signature is enough for a return.
  • Your residence history can trigger police certificate requirements from multiple countries. Missing one costs months.

What we do

  • We confirm the correct sponsorship type and checklist before anything else.
  • Relationship evidence is built the way an officer reads it — a documented timeline, not a pile of photos.
  • We sweep your residence history and collect every required police certificate before submission.
  • Every package goes through documents-team cross-checks and a final RCIC review. Returned cases are welcome too — we start from the cause.

Frequently asked questions

We never registered our marriage — can I still be sponsored?
Yes, as common-law if you can prove 12+ months of continuous cohabitation. The documents differ from a married case, so the type determination must be right first.
Is there an income requirement for the sponsor?
Spousal sponsorship generally has no minimum income requirement. Exceptions exist in specific situations, which we confirm for your case.
Can my spouse work in Canada while the application is in process?
For inland applications, a spousal open work permit can be filed alongside. We check your conditions and plan it together.

Where does my case fit?

Tell us your situation and we will map what is possible under the current rules.
